What Types of Cardio Workouts Should You Try

types of cardio workouts

The best types of cardio workouts for people who are trying to gain muscle and lose fat are the ones that keep your heart rate high during the workout. Intensity over volume is important to a successful lean muscle-building workout routine. However, you most likely understand that you must be receiving some cardio exercise each day in your routine, but this is where things become confusing. In order to select the best types of cardio workouts for muscle-building, it may be necessary to make some changes to your current fitness program.

Circuit Training

One of the best types of workouts for losing body fat, gaining lean muscle and maintaining or improving cardiovascular health can be found in circuit training. Circuit training is done on an elliptical machine or at home. There are many different types of circuit training workouts that can be completed in just thirty minutes or one hour. Depending on which type of equipment you use, it may be possible to complete these workouts three times a week.

Walking is one of the most common forms of exercise. Many people walk daily. If walking is not your favorite form of exercise, you can do other types of cardio workouts, such as swimming, jogging, biking, rowing, etc. Walking is one of the most popular ways to lose weight and maintain or improve cardiovascular health. When you walk, you do it very slowly, which helps to burn calories more quickly.

If walking does not burn enough calories for you to lose weight, you may want to try swimming. These types of cardio workouts require a great deal of discipline and patience. Although it may seem very easy to swim, swimming can be one of the hardest types of cardio workouts available. Because you are moving so quickly and swimming has such a long distance to cover, it is imperative that you know exactly how much cardio you can do before attempting this routine.

Various Forms Of Compound Exercises

There are also various forms of compound exercises. Compound sets are very intense. The goal of performing a compound set is to work several muscle groups at once. This means you will be using large muscle groups throughout the workout, burning calories much faster. The more intense your compound set routine, the faster you will lose weight.

These are not the only types of workouts available to you. Flexibility and aerobics are great ways to burn calories without adding much weight to your frame. These exercises build muscle and are usually fairly easy to learn. Some people find them to be a little boring and do not provide the same benefits as a stretching and aerobic routine. Both of these options are excellent methods of fitness and should be included in any weight loss plan.

Jogging And Cycling

Even if you are looking for something that is easier to perform, like jogging or biking, you may want to consider one of the many different types of cardio workouts available. Most people do not think of jogging or biking as being a cardiovascular workout, but they really are. If you are a beginner exercising, you may want to start off with something simple and easy. Over time, as your body becomes accustomed to exercise, you can add a few different types of cardio workouts.

Final Thoughts

The point of this article is to try and put a little fun into the process of trying to lose weight. As a former fat burner, i.e., someone who tried and failed with many different types of weight loss programs, i.e., cycling, jogging, swimming, stair climbing, running, and yoga, I was always under the impression that cardio workouts were just for hardcore fitness junkies and that there would never be a program that could actually help me lose weight. However, after trying out so many different types of programs, i.e., cycling, jogging, swimming, stair climbing, running, and yoga, it becomes clear to me that I have been completely wrong. With the right types of cardio workouts, i.e., a few minutes or intervals every day, you will find yourself becoming more fit than ever before.
